OpenSync 4.4 Release Notes

Release 4.4.2.0

Notable Fixes

  • CM:

    • IPv6 prefix is not requested on bridge interfaces

    • Fix memory leaks (cm2_util_req_stability_cb and cm2_ovsdb_get_connection_uplinks)

  • WM: Address memory leak when ACL is updated or DFS recalculations (platform/bcm)

  • BM:

    • Address memory leak when ACL is updated (platform/bcm)

    • Probe requests with DSSS IE trigger code managing ACL to improve band steering. (platform/bcm)

  • Fixed a performance issue when station was advertising the 160mhz capability in the association but hardware did not support it (platform/bcm)

Notable Enhancements

  • Unify pcap filters for L2UF packets

  • Created new kconfig BCM_SPEEDTEST_RT_RUNTIME to provide ability change CPU prioritization (RT_RUNTIME and CHRT_PRIO).

  • Performance improvement by use posix_spawnp() for strexread() inside util library

  • LTEM: Set RA default_lifetime to zero on switchover to LTE to improve switch time

  • CM: Dump memory usage during connection checking

Release 4.4.1.0

Notable Fixes

  • FSM: Fixed mDNS plugin where mDNS were not cached for each unique IP address

  • LTEM:

    • Send MQTT LTE information regardless of LTE state

    • Don't set WAN state up in northbound API on L3 upstream failure

    • Fix LTE persistence configuration, use secondary uplink during onboarding instead restart managers

  • CM: Disable repeating uplink check, when uplink was updated

Notable Enhancements

  • Amended logpull script to collect outputs of lsof and contents of /proc/sys/fs/file-nr

  • Added health-check script to check the available file handles resource pool (observing /proc/sys/fs/file-nr)

  • LTEM

    • Don't program the APN unless it has changed

    • Add a healthcheck for LTE

    • Reset modem when not connected to a cell

    • Additional LTE Neighbor metrics in MQTT report

    • Read and store the modem FW version

  • CM: Speed up link switching

Platform Support

  • Added QSDK 12.1 support (platform/qca)

Release 4.4.0.0

New Features

  • BM: Out of band 6GHz capability detection of clients

  • DM: Enable or disable SIP-ALG configuration

  • WM:

    • Introduced Fast Transition WPA2/3-Enterprise option

    • WPS support with Hostapd

    • Reporting RADIUS availability

    • Secondary RADIUS support for WPA2/WPA3 enterprise

  • FSM: Introduced network ID attribute to all caches and improved reporting

  • CM: Bluetooth functionality is independent of node type (extender or gateway). You can now easily enable or disable bluetooth functionality on your node.

  • VPNM: Optional. Introduced VPN Manager that does IKEv2 IPSec WAN IP split tunnel L3 and application-based routing

  • SpeedTest report now includes all data elements provided by Ookla's binary

Notable Fixes

  • FCM: Corrected the role inside the interface statistics

  • BM:

    • Prevent false positive steering attempts when authorization fails

    • After a client connection failure, backoff timer is not reset. The correct time is taken by BM.

  • WM: Fixed a corner case. When WiFi driver downgraded the HT mode, the primary channel can now be set correctly and avoid loss of client connectivity

  • CM: Force restart managers always after 24h in skipped mode

Notable Enhancements

  • Within ovsdb, extend dhcpd field in WiFi_Inet_Config/State table to support multiple routes over DHCP option 121

  • FSM and FCM to use unix domain sockets for inter process communication (IPC)

  • FSM:

    • Extended logging for DNS activity in the DPI framework

    • DPI UPnP plugin can be enabled using Kconfig

  • OSN: Added localhost interface to miniupnpd config

Platform Support

  • Removed OpenSync Gateway/Extender target from QCA template. Instead please refer to the reference design.

  • Improved multicast exceptions on BCM platforms

In Development *

  • Band steering algorithm change request (from counters to timer)

* Features which are still in development are disabled by default, and will not be supported in this release.
